Dolphin
Gîtes is a beautiful child friendly gites complex located in the Vendée region
of France. The complex is ideally situated in the coastal village of La
Chaize-Giraud, 5 minutes from the beach.
The accommodation comprises of six character cottages located in the
same grounds all with direct access to a beautiful heated swimming
pool. Our largest gîte (country
cottage) can accommodate up to 8 people and is ideal for a large family or two
families sharing. The grounds include the ancient walled garden built by
the Monks, landscaped lawns and borders, an orchard and a heated swimming pool
with views on the valley - all situated in the shadow of a beautiful 12th
century church. Our gite complex is family friendly and it is very likely that
your children with have other children to play with during your stay.

modern holiday cottage, only 5 minutes from the superb beaches at
Bretignolles-sur-mer. The
cottage is on a quiet road exiting the village of La Chaize Giraud. The
beach is a 5km cycle ride along quiet roads and cycle paths. The
interior of the cottage is modern with a lounge/ dining area, partitioned kitchen
area, shower room, WC and one bedroom. There is a washing machine, UK

Places
to Visit in Vendée (when staying at Dolphin Gites)
There
are superb beaches all along the coast and they are monitored by the CRS who
volunteer as lifeguards in the summer months. If you fancy a change from sunbathing or
swimming, then there are things to do in the local area. The
Vendée has many great opportunities for cycling, swimming, fishing, sailing, surfing and walking.
There are great beaches
only a few minutes away, fabulous restaurants and wonderful attractions such as
the Puy du Fou - a nationally famous theme park, only 1 hour's drive from
Dolphin Gites. It is a large medieval park with an amazing range of shows such
as a superb falconry display,
jousting knights, gladiators and Vikings.
We
would recommend a visit to the attractive town of Apremont, famous for its
Chateau and river beach. Also, a visit to the island of Noirmoutier and the
famous causeway known as the Passage du Gois. The Normandeliere at Bretignolles
sur-mer is a great beach with a créperie in the dunes. There is also a sea lake
at the Normandeliere which is ideal for young children.
There
are some wonderful walks in the local area. If you enjoy rambling then you will
really enjoy walking around the beautiful Jaunay lake. The scenery is amazing
and the walk is about 8 miles through delightful wooded countryside with views
on the lake. You can also hire mountain bikes from us and cycle around the
lake.

Holidays in 'La Vendée' (self-catering accommodation)
Each area of the Vendee has its own
rural character and charm.
Gites come in very different styles and character, from old converted barns, sea view apartments, to very modern bungalows
with all mod cons. There are small rural cottages hidden away in the
countryside miles from anywhere, modern purpose built houses on
estates, small apartments and gîte
complexes. Today, gites in France and especially in the Vendée, are generally well equipped providing accommodation of a
good standard, although standards do vary. In the
past, gites were of a very basic standard, almost rudimentary with
the most basic facilities. Today, the vast majority of gites
represent good quality accommodation and very good value for money.
In the case of the gite complex which often comprises of 3 or 4
cottages located in close proximity, there is likely to be a shared
swimming pool and children's play area.
